Nigerian Serrvice Chiefs Hold Strategic Meeting In Maiduguri

The meeting is taking place at the headquarters of the Theatre Command in Borno state.Those in attendance include the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar and other top military
officers.
The Service Chiefs arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Tuesday morning, in line with the directive of the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
Following the resurgence of violence in the northeast with pockets of attacks recorded mostly in Borno State.
The Acting President had earlier met with the military Chiefs, after the recent attack on the oil exploration workers and security operatives between Magumeri and Gubio Local Government Areas of Borno State.
After the meeting, the Defence Minister had told State House correspondents that it was agreed that the military heads should be moved back to the Command Centre in Maiduguri to critically review issues pertaining to security in the country.
The minister added that the Federal Government would procure more surveillance devices and cameras to promptly detect distant attackers and protect the troops.
